Demo Tape Loops — Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
So after much time, I finally realized I had this cheap casette recorder laying around, which I didn't use much.
And I knew that it could give me some pretty nostalgic and incredible sounds. Also that if I messed something up It wouldn't cost much, so I gave repairing it a try.
And yeah, it works now. (Although the modifications might be slightly under-engineered...)
The obvious thing to do was to hook it up to my synthesizer and start recording some sounds.
⠀
I really like how this one turned out, sounds strangely cosmic and retro.
⠀
This one reminds me a lot of Boards of Canada, especially their album Tomorrow's Harvest. It sounds like something you'd hear as an intro for something, like the album or an old TV program (who knows, maybe even a videogame).
⠀
This is a snippet of the song Huit octobre 1971 by Cortex. I specially like the part around 0:26, I think the tape effect definetly degrades the quality of the song (so much that, this would not be the prefered listening experience). But at the same time the mono audio, distortion, and vibrato of the tape add a very special quality to it.

Equipment used: KORG minilogue, Audacity, Cheap casette recorder/radio.
