We do not think of trees or flowers as individual beings but as resources or objects that form an environment. We only derive and distinguish from it when we need something in exchange. A 4 leaf clover wouldn't be distinguished from a 3 leaf one if a superstition wasn't attached to it. She would be indistinguishable from nature itself except to those that strive to distinguish things, not because they chase their own interests but because they know it's the right thing to do.
