Project Rooftop 2025 Art Report

I've decided to share the development of PRT (Project Rooftop) instead of mantaining it between close friends (as it once was). I'll start by sharing all of the entries (rooms) made for the game in 2025. From september to november.

This is not a dev-log, its purpose is purely to show off the artwork of the game. Dev-logs will eventually be uploaded.

First version of the PRT test area

The very first version of the test room, very bland, empty, but efficient for simple collisions and depth-sorting.

Second version of the PRT test area

I eventually decided to use a 3d-isometric look, 2d just wasn't gonna cut it. This version still lacks the colorful dynamics of later maps, it is rather bland.

Final version of the PRT test area

This final version adds multiple background layers (in-game, they're both independent and animated) and utilizes a colorful palette. The square background is reminiscent of a canceled project. The red ico sphere in the top right corner of the room originally transported you to other areas in the game. The ramp has been replaced with a semi-ring (it looks as if it were 1 sprite, in-game it is two, due to depth-sorting).

Prelude to a greater area

This is a hall interconnecting two rooms, one of them isn't finished yet. Please keep in mind that this is just the state of the game as of 2025 and most things will be changed later.

The corporate maze

This is what one end of the hall leads you to, this entry will be heavily modified. To appreciate it in full detail, please click it.

Office hub, bottom view

After completing the maze, you enter this hub. I will show you different versions of it (some were made purely for their aesthetic value, others are needed to adjust the perspective in-game).

Office hub, glitchy view

This version was accidentally rendered by mixing collision data with visual data, but I decided to keep it since it looks cool.

Computer room

Computer room, accessible from the leftmost door at the bottom of the office hub.

Chair room

Chair room, accessible from the rightmost door at the top of the office hub (said door is not currently visible).

Hospital passage

Hospital passage. This is one of the most beautiful entries currently in the game. Click it to see it fill your screen.

Hospital garden, early version

Early and unfinished version of the hospital garden.

Hospital garden, late version

Late and finished version of the hospital garden. This is the biggest image in the game so far. This version will probably be unused, I don't like it and fitting a 4k image to be a map consumes a lot of memory in many different ways.

PRT TITLE SCREEN

This is supposed to be a sort of title screen to the game, I really like it. This image will probably be used.

That's it, those were all the backgrounds that were created for PRT in 2025. Hopefully I can create more in 2026. Expect dev-logs to come soon!
